hi,

I have question about CSMA/CD. Do the colliding host invoke the random backoff timer or do all host involk it?

Hi bytes101,

Well basically, the random back-off timer is only initiated when there is a collision. Also only the HOSTS are involved in the collision, and the other hosts who are not involved in the collision are free to transmit during this time.

Hope this clears your doubt.
